One thing that instantly catches the eye of any visitor to Bhutan is the beauty of their textiles. Most Bhutanese still wear their traditional dress — a kira for women and a gho for men and while most everyday outfits are now machine woven, the finest and most expensive textiles that are reserved for special occasions such as festivals or weddings, are hand woven. These intricate costumes can take up to a year to produce and the finest ghos and kiras that are truly works of art.
